Launched in 2014 by the Dayton Emerging Fashion Incubator, the vision of the Art of (DE-FI)ance Fashion Fund is a grant program supporting fashion based talent, brands, and businesses at every stage of their careers while promoting fashion education, workforce development, and outreach across the Midwest. On October 9, 2020, the Art of (DE-FI)ance officially became a tax exempt 501 (C)(3).
It is the mission of the Art of (DE-FI)ance to provide high quality opportunities, resources and experiences to aspiring, emerging, and independent emerging fashion and design communities to help cultivate their careers, build their teams and align their accomplishments with other leading designers.
By challenging the status quo across every category within the fashion and design industries, The Art of (DE-FI)ance Fashion Fund provides grants ranging from $100-1,000 to fashion talent. It also provides educational opportunities including partnerships with established players in the fashion industry as well as workforce development.
The common thread with the Art of (DE-FI)ance Fashion Fund is that we aims to address a lack of capital and management skills required to leverage the power of creative and cultural industries. Applications go live on February 1st, 2022.

Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals!
The work that has been done over the past 8 years by (DE-FI) has all been voluntary, the only time that we've ever charged for our services was when we hosted an event or traveled to Chicago to take the models to visit agencies and we only charged $50/person. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 shutdowns, we had to cancel Dayton Fashion Week in March 2020 which was to serve as the fundraiser for our House to help with startup cost. We are in need of sewing supplies and equipment donations! Whether you are cleaning out your sewing studio, craft stash, fabric leftovers, art closet, estate collection, or unfinished project we’d love to take the items that are no longer useful to you and give them another life in our House. Monetary Donations can also be made HERE!
