CLASS OVERVIEW: This class is for 100% beginning knitters. Students will learn to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. We will also discuss types of yarn, knitting tools, how to read patterns, and what all that stuff of the yarn label means! We will be knitting the “Wheat” scarf by Tin Can Knits for our first knitting project.
Students are encouraged to work on their scarves at home between class sessions.
Each class will begin with a demonstration or discussion of knitting vocabulary, with the rest of the class dedicated to practice and individual assistance.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY THE FIRST CLASS:
· 400 yards of worsted weight yarn (“superwash” wool) in your choice of color – the yarn wrapper may also say #4 or “medium”. To makesure you have enough yarn ro complete the scarf, you may want to purchase two(2) skeins of yarn. Depending on which yarn you purchase, there may be less than 400 yards in the skein.
Knitting needles, stitch markers, measuring tapes, and darning needles will be provided and are covered in the class fee. The student will provide yarn and scissors.
